As stated before, I'm currently teaching English to young kids, aged 4 to 9, and knowing how to handle both the students and the teaching content over the course of 40 minutes can be quite challenging.
The methodology I've been using is the ESA, but without knowing about it.
This unit opened my eyes to ways to :
-keep the students involved, using past knowledge and applying it to the new content in an interactive way,
-keep the students focused on the new knowledge, as well as making sure it is assimilated and,
-keep the students motivated by letting them try the newly acquired knowledge in games, plays, etc..
Knowing how to do this with students of all ages is vital for a teacher, and this unit covered many ways to do so.
