This unit was ostensibly about pronunciation, but was far more about educational linguistics than approaches to pronunciation pedagogy. The opening sections on stress and intonation were interesting and very practical. I especially liked the idea of having the students read nonsense sentences with different emotions. This a great idea, and I've always wanted to have students imitate movies or audiobooks to practice speaking with emotion. Although the rest of the unit did cover a difficult and controversial topic in English language education with a thorough description of the physical linguistics involved in English pronunciation, I feel that this unit didn't do as good a job as previous units because its descriptions of how to teach pronunciation were too short. I agree that pronunciation should be taught, and that nativeness is not a terrible goal for students to shoot for, but a sample lesson plan or some sample exercise would've been good.
