This abbreviated unit covered the teaching of the receptive language skills: reading and listening. Although these skills were covered together, they are unique and require unique attention in our pedagogy. Nonetheless, reading and listening are also inseparable from the other language skills, which all work together in an integrated matter. The unit discussed the different purposes of reading and listening as well as how we read and listen before suggesting ways to address the specific issues that come up in teaching listening and reading before going on to outline a receptive skills lesson. This was very interesting.
