This unit introduces a lot of teaching methodologies, but focuses on the ESA method. These methods have been adopted for a long time and they have their own pluses and minuses. However, the ESA method allows the needs of students to be met as many as possible. At each stage of the ESA method, the teacher can use various activities as long as they meet the aim of that stage.
As I reflect on my own learning experience, I feel like the traditional methods were playing an important role in the classes that I attended. I think it's because they are easier for the teacher to use. Most of these methods only have one step or one activity aiming at a simple goal. Meanwhile, the ESA method requires a lot more plannings and effort of the teacher, as each stage has an unique function of the class. The various of activities listed in the content of this unit make me excited, but also challenge me to be creative.
