In this section, we learned about how to teach productive skills, which include speaking and writing. When new students are learning to speak a new language, it is easier for them than writing, because when speaking, one can clarify any misunderstandings right on the spot. However, when writing, the student has to be way more accurate, in their spelling, layout, handwriting, etc. Also with speaking, some problems may arise, making the student not participate. Students may not want to engage if they lack confidence, afraid of making mistakes, intimidated by peers or teacher, lack of interest, etc. It is up to the teacher to make a warm and welcoming environment for each student, so in return they have a successful learning experience. When the student is writing, good penmanship is important, but because their native writing is probably very different, should come with more practice and shouldn't be the number one concern.
