As mentioned in a previous unit, Unit 7 brings back the ESA teaching structures, such as the Boomerang structure, the Patchwork structure, and the Straight Arrow structure. This unit focuses on the importance of vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language structures, and how they should be taught to students. Knowing the original or how often an English word is used is not necessary for the lesson plan, but making sure the student understands the meaning of the word, when to use it, and how to pronounce it is what is most important. Using the different methods connected to the engage, study, and activate structures will be beneficial to the students' understanding of new vocabulary and language structures. I have learned that the different ESA structures are used for students at specific skill set levels.
