the productive skills include writing and speaking and they are purposefully used to communicate. many times much attention is not given to the writing skill because some teachers consider it as a waste of time due to the 'quiet time' spent on writing. although it is viewed as the more difficult skill, speaking equally requires a lot of fluency because the speaker doesnt have time to think and plan the answer. for the two skills, accuracy and fluency are the main points of concentration. accuracy activities usually dominate the study phase while fluency activities are mostly in activate phase and they should therefore be well balanced during the lesson. there are several speaking activities to encourage and motivate students to speak and also have confidence.the ESA phases should be effectively applied when selecting these activities. there are also several factors to be considered for creative and effective writing.
