Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit is a systematic introduction to basic grammar, and it focuses on parts of the speech. It covers nouns, articles, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, gerund, prepositions and conjunctions, and all sections of the unit are backed up with examples. I think that the tasks at the end of the unit were particularly interesting and useful, because they prompt the teacher to reflect on how to transmit this material to others. I must mention that I found some examples in the unit problematic. There were a few examples that contained gender bias, for instance: "She cleaned the kitchen thoroughly", as opposed to "He drives quickly", and "The man that I marry will be rich", as opposed to "I married her because she's gorgeous". I am aware that specific meanings behind these examples aren't the point of the lesson, but giving these examples to English learners perpetuates and reinforces gender stereotypes. We communicate our basic cultural values with language, and vice-versa, standardizing this kind of language installs and reinforces notions and assumptions about gender. In these examples, women are portrayed as house cleaners whose value lie in their looks, while men are described as independent, competent individuals who are, however, mostly admired if they are rich. I recommend that gender neutral examples are provided in future courses, or that the certain "roles" we assign to men and women are used interchangeably: sometimes a man can also cook or clean in the sentence, and a woman can drive or manage the company, for example.
