This unit first covered the numerous methodologies that are used to teach ESL. I particularly remembered 'Grammar - Translation' and 'Tasked-Based Learning' from when I learnt French during High school and University. It then highlights Jeremy Harmer's method Engage, Study, Activate which highlights that students need to be motivated, exposed and have an opportunity to use the language in order to hengage in effective language learning. This unit described in detail the different tools available for each of these stages and the opportunity to mix lessons up a bit by using 'Boomerang' and 'Patchwork' ESA lesson plans. Finally Unit Three stressed the importance of correcting, including the difference between mistakes and errors. What i really appreciated from this unit was understanding that 'Where possible students should be encouraged to discover language for themselves', and also all the fun examples of what to include in the stages of a lesson.
