The unit reflects on the four basic skills of learning a language which are; reading and listening (receptive), and speaking and writing (productive).
As well as observing and recognizing that there are two main reasons for reading and listening. One is for a purpose like getting directions, or getting a certificate teaching english abroad, etc. And the second is for entertainment like watching the movies, or reading a novel. Often times we read or listen with both in mind. Explaining topics of reading material and how to keep the each student engaged it is important to get to know their interests and provide topics to each over the length of the course.
