This unit gave a good introduction to the different teaching methodologies and the ESA lesson plan. I agree with the authors that each methodology has a strength that can be used in the appropriate time. I think that for students who want to be able to communicate as much as possible who are not as concerned about proper grammar, then the Lexical or Tasked-Based approaches will be strong. If you have students who are studying for an exam then PPP will have many strong points. However, if the students are engaged and wanting to learn, then who cares what methodology you choose as it won't be effective. That's why using the ideas behind ESA are important. Having engaged students that understand the new idea/concept and then using is what we want!
