Back then when I was starting to study Japanese, my mentors would always remind our class to refrain from comparing Japanese and English. They said because they know that it is one of the reasons which prevents or hinders us from learning the language. Enforcing this was not easy and it taught me to patiently adapt to our mentors' teaching style. Following my mentors' advice gave me the concentration I needed to learn a new language. I can still remember how the level of difficulty increased as our class was studying Japanese. We had to carefully utilize the time we were exposed to the pronunciation of words and usage of the language.
