This unit covering the basics of English grammar is very helpful. Often we take the language structure for granted but are challenged to explain why. I am find the explanations of each section very good and it has enhanced my ability to explain in better detail the specifics of each part. Take gerund for example, it is a form of the verb that not every language has but can easily be identified by the ending -ing. It's simple to remember and explain. More complicated are the various uses of the articles both indefinite and definite. When do you use what and why? Some languages do not have articles which makes it all the more challenging to explain the importance of their use in English, and then show examples of when the article can be omitted. Adjectives and adverbs are often confused and interchanged, this is also an important grammatical aspect to make sure students understand and get to practice. Without grammar in a language we are lost, the mind needs the structure just as the body needs the skeleton to be able to function. I could study this more and hope I get more opportunities throughout the course.
