Unit twenty covered several different sides of troubleshooting in the classroom when working with a variety of problems. One of these addresses groups. Across the board, it is important for the teacher and the students to build positive relationships with one another. If students have already been in a group together, they are probably already comfortable with one another. If not, the process of building rapport must begin on the very first day of class. During the first day of class, it is also important that the teacher not use the textbook in order to build rapport. As there are different levels of learners, there must therefore be different levels of materials. Large groups often benefit from working in pairs or small groups in order to optimize student talk time. Teachers are urged to say as little as possible and to only speak in English in order to encourage the students to communicate in English.
