Unit 12 was a great reinforcement, as expected. In teaching productive skills, this Unit specifically focused on the speaking and writing aspects (which included games - complimenting the previous Unit on receptive skills. It was interesting to see that ittt states that writing is the most neglected skill in the TEFL world; currently, I am living and teaching in Japan, and there is actually a problem with the over-emphasis on writing, in such a crippling manner that students can read and write extremely well, or for entrance exams for example, but can barely communicate the spoken language. The material covered gave great ideas and techniques for games, activities, and lessons - especially for encouraging student interaction. It was nostalgic to think of, modify, and look back on games that I played in my youth or during school; it is especially interesting to see how I can and do incorporate these into my lessons as well.
