This unit on productive skills accompanies the previous one which covered receptive skills. It discussed how infrequently writing is taught in class, and the important distinction between accuracy and fluency. I have had both positive and negative experiences while trying to learn foreign languages, and can personally attest to the importance of having specific times dedicated to speaking correctly, and others in which it is ok to make mistakes while trying to accomplish a communicative task. I had not considered the difficulties with penmanship and punctuation faced by English-language learners, and find this to be an excellent point.
