It is important for English teachers to be aware of different teaching methods and techniques, this can help us to more effectively plan our lessons and teach different types of students. It is important to allow students to learn how to communicate freely and creatively, however teachers must also be aware of trying to help the students to improve their own linguistic ability, whether it be through self-correction, correction amongst peers or through correction made by the teacher. However, it is best teach the students how to spot and correct their own mistakes rather than just ‘spoon feeding’ them the correct answer all the time.
