From this unit, I learned the fundamentals of English; parts of speech or grammar. Encouraging students to be able to communicate and speak English with fluency is of course important, but in order to improve accuracy, teaching basic and advanced grammar is essential. In order to do that, I should be familiar with parts of speech as well.I understood most of the grammar points because I had learned them in school. However, I realized how difficult it was to try to explain a grammar point when I was working on the task sheet. Thus, I noticed I should not only be knowledgeable about parts of speech, but also be able to teach and explain it in words in which an English learner in progress would easily understand. I felt that this unit was very useful to help me do that.
