Pronunciation can be a very difficult aspect of language to explain and teach. This unit goes into incredible detail in describing how sounds are made and how each of those sounds may present a different idea in the same sentence. By changing which word in a sentence is stressed, the information presented can be entirely different. In the sentence 'He didn't mean to kick the dog', stress on different words can change the meaning. Putting the stress on 'He' could mean someone else was suppose to kick the dog. Putting the stress on 'mean' could say that it was an accident.
The unit also goes into great detail about the parts of the mouth and how they are used to produce sound. It also asks us to say different sounds, such as 'k' and 'g' to get a feeling on how they feel. This is important when explaining to a student who may not have that sound in his or her native language.
