From the Unit 12 Teaching productive skills, I have learned about the differences between accuracy and fluency activities. Accuracy activities are usually part of the study phase, and fluency activities are usually part of the activate phase. Accuracy and fluency are both important. There are different types of the speaking activities in the classroom, such as controlled activities, guided activities, and creative communication. First two are accuracy based activities, and the third one is fluency based. Teachers should encourage students to speak because many students can seem reluctant to talk in the classroom, so we can use a variety of techniques to promote interaction. Students also should improve their writing skills with handwriting and spelling. Incorrect spelling can often be perceived, by the reader, to reflect a lack of education. During my English language lessons, teachers didn't make any games and activities, that's why classes were pretty dull, so I am sure that games in the classroom are the essential aspect for ESL teaching.
