The videos were really eye-opening. By showing a positive and negative example, it allows prospective English teachers to identify good actions and habits as well as mistakes one can make in class when teaching. Just reading about what one should and should not do is not as impactful as watching it for yourself, so this unit was critical in emphasising the points that were shared in the earlier units.
The first lesson was especially impactful for me as it made me reflect on the mistakes I have done before when teaching. At the same time, the second lesson provided a comfort of some sorts when I identified things I have done in class myself, it shows that there are positive practices which assuages me after watching the first lesson. This unit is important as it teaches the value of self-reflection. It is an avenue for me, and perhaps other English teachers, to reflect on our teaching style, what can be improved upon and what can be continued in class.
