This unit describes the different aspects of new language that needs to be taught and how to choose which ones are important to be taught. For example, the students need to learn new vocabulary, and the teacher has to decide which words are important and appropriate to teach depending on various factors. The students need to be able to hear and absorb the new language, understand how to use it, and be able to produce it themselves. The teacher will make lesson plans to help the students practice this new language using the straight arrow, boomerang, or patchwork esa structure.
