This section is a crash course in phonetics and phonology that covers the IPA and its parts (consonants according to place and manner of articulation, and vowels though with a lack of a proper chart for them), as well as a discussion on intonation and stress, which I found quite useful. As a linguist, I found most of this to be review so I would say the greatest asset personally is the discussion on intonation and the standard patterns in a sentence according to implied meaning (which is often elided in basic linguistics courses) and I like how the rising/falling pattern was well-contrasted with the falling/rising "confirmatory" intonation. It's very worth noting that most of the phonetics presented, especially those of some of the back vowels and diphthongs, are particular to UK dialects, so a lot of Oceanic and North American speakers will need to use a different chart or directory for their own IPA inventories.
