This unit reintroduced the phonetic alphabet that many native speakers rarely think about when they speak, since most native speakers learn this alphabet as young children and after having mastered the concepts seem to push the content to the back of their minds when presented with explaining it to others. In fact when presented with sentences spelled phonetically it can often look very much like Old English. Once you restudy the alphabet it seems to jog a native speakers memory and, for myself at least, pick up transcribing the words faster each time.
