In this unit, the distinction between accuracy and fluency was broached and for productive skills it's something an educator has to be aware of, and they belong in tight niches within the phases of a lesson. Study phase being the safe time for Accuracy drilling or prompting (note that for elicitation to work here, the students usual require a prior knowledge of the vocabulary and thus aren't at Beginner level), and Activate ideally being where the learners can go freely into communication to enhance fluency.
These tie into games, as games are in many ways the amalgamation of all skills for a purpose that motivates students. Role-play, debates, and creative writing activities all play vital roles in fluency (for mid- or high-level learners) while games are quite universal and even lower language levels can be paired with most classic game structures and motivate early learners.
