In Unit3 I've observed 9 teaching methods and techniques that have influenced on ESL teaching and are still successfully used within many teachers in different countries. I've got to know the concept of "Elicitation" and different examples of using it as well as some points "to bear in mind" such as you simply cannot be negative while correcting the student because it can dampen student's will to learn the language. After I've learn the concept of ESA lessons and went thought all 3 components of it with 3 different examples of lesson planning such as "Straight Arrow ESA lesson" that might be useful with beginners and "Boomerang' and "Patchwork" lessons that are probably more suitable for more advanced learners. I've jotted down all ideas for each phase of ESA lesson as well as the conclusion that the Engage state should fully engage students, Study stage - provide for controlled practice so I can see that students have understood the language and can construct it in an accurate, controlled way and the Activate stage is about giving the chance to use the language fluently along with the rest of their language knowledge. In "Giving feedback" and "Correction Techniques" I've got some info about the aim, type and extend of feedback, that it must be clear and audible, so students have an opportunity to correct their own work, observed the difference between mistake and error, learned different ways of correcting students and how to correct them. At the end I was given some sort of code-system to correct student's writing and tips for lesson planning.
