Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit introduced an important factor to teaching, which is conducting a class. There are many methodologies presented at the beginning of the unit, and they all have their positives and negatives. However, there are some important factors to consider when conducting a class, such as the student's culture, their personalities or their needs. This will be relevant to which methodology the teacher will take for a particular class. As this unit confirms, the methodology that will be studied in this course is the ESA (Engage, Study & Activate). This method consists of the following: 1. Getting the student's attention, and getting them involved in the lesson; 2. Discussing the new grammar, and focusing on perfecting their English; 3. Getting the students to practice what they already know, and what they have just learnt. Although these are the main 3 sections in the ESA methodology, there are various ways of structuring a class, depending on level, interest, etc. This also gives the teacher more flexibility, and is not bound to one unique, and predictable system. Some approaches to the ESA methodology are the 'Boomerang', and the 'Patchwork'. A very useful section in this lesson are the ideas. It is great to not only understand what the approach or methodology consists of, but to also have ideas in your back pocket to change things up a bit or put into practice when necessary. This will be something to carry around throughout the teacher carrier. Lastly, we are presented with how and when to give feedback, and correct our students. This section is important, as it can be the difference between a motivated and outspoken class, and an embarrassed and quiet one. Correcting and giving feedback are obviously important in a classroom, however, it is important to know when to do it. This was a very helpful lesson, as it showed me that there are various ways of teaching a class, and provided me with great ideas to implement. I always had difficulties connecting with younger learners, but I feel that using some of these approaches can make the difference.
