A successful lesson can be separated from a botched one by a number of factors, but positivity, preparation/organization, gentleness with regards to student mistakes, and a good sense of humor all can all play a role that makes a dramatic difference regardless of language level or class type. Crucial inclusions include a proper Engage phase start by allowing the learners to have a low-pressure chance to explore the topic or language for the day, as well as build a sense of connection to the teacher and other students as well as an Activate phase where the students have clearly outlined and demonstrated goals and tools to perform the task (which should feature lots of student talk time and with little inference from the teacher but still have him/her available as a reference, model, and occasional speaking partner). It's also important not to overcorrect, and to allow the students' dialogue and exploration move slowly, clearly, and largely according to their own pacing, only being guided along once it seems like the students seem to understand the language (which should be checked with questions that elicit answers for comprehension). These were great comparative examples that gave me a lot to consider when structuring my own lessons, especially with regards to what can be prepared (and what doesn't have to be) beforehand on the board or as handouts, and to what extent I can safely avoid overcorrecting (I only noticed two drills for problem or focus points, so that's something I need to decrease).
