This unit is succinct and concise as it covers the types of tests and examinations that are available for the English language. These tests and examinations is one of the ways for English teachers to evaluate the students' progress and provide certification for studies or work in an English-medium environment. There are four different types of tests and four different general external examinations. Cambridge Assessment is the fourth type of external examinations and it has at least different types that were covered in this unit.
It must be noted that there are many other external examinations that were not mentioned here. The purpose of tests and examinations is to evaluate students as mentioned above. However, it is not the only way to evaluate them. Tutorials and evaluation by the students are other ways for students to be evaluated. While these may not be formal, they certainly are useful and helpful.
