The purpose of this unit was to demonstrate what effective and ineffective teaching looks like in the classroom with real students. The second lesson was by far more effective than the first lesson because the teacher was engaging, friendly, and spoke slowly and clearly. In the first lesson, the teacher was very quick to tell the students that they were wrong, and was speaking very quickly and using complicated vocabulary that was above the student level. In the second lesson, he was very encouraging, and the level of student participation was much higher.
