As a native speaker of American English, I never needed to be taught the specifics of English, or at least not to the degree in which this Unit covered. I was able to learn it all passively and didn't have to be sat down and taught what a conjunction was, or the different types of adverbs. Seeing English taught in this way is eye opening, in this manner one can see exactly how hard English can be to learn as a second language, and the pitfalls in which a non-native student of English can encounter when trying to tackle the English language. Any native speaker of English would learn a lot about their own language if they took at look at Unit 2, and be able to put to specific terms the things they already knew but didn't know they knew, such as countable nouns being able to take an [a/an] before them. I believe I've learned a great amount about English, the terminology in which one can describe how English functions as a language, and how to explain the complex and confusing rules in which English is governed.
