The methodology of translation can be problematic because students learn about the target language, but not how to practically apply the foreign language. The Audio-lingualism method is mostly based on drills and not the best method for working with more advanced students since it does not require higher level thinking. I tend to favor communicative language teaching because it uses role playing and real life situations to complete a task with less emphasis on grammar accuracy. Community language learning tends to be more student centered with the teacher acting as a facilitator. Elicitation involves students discovering language on their own with a guiding hand from the teacher.
