Unit 3 was all about theories, methods, and techniques. There are a variety of methodologies regarding best practices for teaching and learning English. It is hard to say with methodology is "best", but there are some general conclusions as to what is necessary regarding language learning. Students need a great deal of exposure to the language and guidance from the teacher. A positive learning environment helps students be more successful. A general method that can be followed when planning and executing lessons is abbreviated ESA (Elicitation, Study, Activate). There are a variety of ways to adjust this sequence, depending on time and purpose of the lesson. The main goal of engage is to introduce student's to the lessons objective and get them involved and invested in the lesson. The study section involves really learning the language objective. Finally, activate allows students to showcase what they have learned. This unit was a good overview of the main points of a lesson, as well as games and activities to incorporate to help students learn best.
