The effective delivery of a lesson involves the organization and selection of the best approach to deliver the lesson. There should be an appropriate balance between a focus on vocabulary, grammar, and the function based organization.
In considering the extent of the vocabulary or grammar used in the lesson, it is important to bear in mind factors such as the similarity of the language to the students’ own language and their familiarity with language being taught, as well as the spelling and pronunciation, and appropriacy of the words being taught.
Consideration should also be given to what the students need to know about the vocabulary items being used before selecting the appropriate techniques to deliver it, afterwards the appropriate engagement, study, and activate techniques can be selected.
