This unit focused on the two receptive skills: reading and listening. First, it outlined the reasons for and necessity of these skills. Next, the lesson highlighted the various ways we as humans use our receptive skills - skimming, detailed reading, and prediction, to name a few. Finally, it provided suggestions for effectively cultivating receptive skills by being conscious of topics chosen, language, and activities. While I am familiar with most of the ideas presented in unit 11, it was helpful to have proper terminology and explanations applied to the concepts. The task materials at the end of the lesson will also be useful to me in a classroom, as fun and straightforward ways to bolster the concepts taught.
