Unit 3 outlined commonly used teaching methodologies ranging from hands-on-learning to repetition. After the general overview, the lesson zeroed in on the “ESA” (Engage-Study-Activate) method, which is the preferred style of teaching according to this course. Details of the expectations for each stage of this teaching method were given as well as helpful activities and games suitable for each of the three stages. This combination of instructions and implementation tips helped to create a complete picture of what successful teaching using this method looks like. I will definitely be referring back to the many activities suggested in this unit during future lesson planning. Along with the ESA methodology, Unit 3 also covered appropriate forms of correction-making. Because this can often be a delicate subject, I appreciate the thoughtful explanations given in this section, especially the distinction made between “errors” and “mistakes.”
