This unit covers the past tense forms: namely past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. Again what I am learning the most is the ability and skills of becoming conscious of the language that I have used and known up until now as a native speaker and how to begin and seek to transfer that meaningfully and relevantly both to myself and my students. It was interesting for me to notice the fact that the past perfect continuous is not used as often as other tenses, and that it is usually used to refer to longer actions that had been going on in the past continuously up until the past point we are thinking about.This makes me consider that thoroughly grasping these grammar concepts involves not simply the learning of certain rules in a rote way, but as the lessons are showing me, understanding the deeper structure of language and it's usage contexts as a whole is key to being able to use language correctly and hopefully impart that to my future students.
