Proper classroom management is a vital part of successful teaching and reception by students. This unit covered virtually all the bases of classroom management from proper and effective teacher etiquette to helpful advice in recognizing the various ways students react to learning. It is good to be reminded that being a teacher comes with great responsibility! Students are constantly observing you, so it is vital to build good rapport with students and cater to their needs while maintaining proper discipline. I enjoyed learning about the importance of classroom arrangement and how this can affect the efficiency of class time. Additionally, it was important to learn about best ways to take disciplinary action, but more importantly, learning how to understand the root issues commonly affecting students who are not thriving or in good conduct. Altogether, this unit made me aware of the need to care for students and be flexible - adapting the classroom to fit their needs and providing the optimal learning environment.
