The final lesson, unit 20 went over various problems that might come about within the classroom. This lesson was extremely helpful as it walked us through different scenarios that may present themselves. Included in this unit were tips for first lessons, warmers, various levels, class sizes, use of native language, reluctant students, and listening texts. I especially enjoyed the segment on how to best teach an initial class period. While many teachers may want to jump right into a textbook, this lesson taught me the importance of starting out slow in order to build rapport with students and allow for both the teacher and students to get to know one another. This first class period is likely to be an instrumental and impactful time as the students are able to form their first impression of the teaching and teacher.
