This unit gave me a really great overview of the present tense in English. Previous to studying it here, I did not know about all the variations that the present tense encompassed. I have only considered them to all be part of the "present tense." Learning about the present simple, the present progressive, the present perfect, and the present perfect continuous is in my opinion extremely important in teaching English. This piece of the language confuses me too at times, and without a solid understanding of it, I can never imagine myself explaining and teaching it to younger children or non-native learners. But now, I feel much more confident in my understanding of both the present tense itself and how to teach it.
