This unit explained how to evaluate students using different tests with varying functions. These include placement, diagnostic, progression, practice, and external examination. Placement tests are used to evaluate an individuals level of ability in the language before they are taught and place them in a class accordingly. Diagnostic tests are similar but are given with an already placed group; this allows the teacher to start adjusting based on the students abilities. Progression tests help direct the future lessons and objectives to have a better outcome. Unlike diagnostic and placement tests, the progress tests are taken during the year and not at the beginning. Practice tests help prepare the student before examination in provision of similar format and questioning.
