From this unit I learnt about how course textbooks can be a tool in the EFL classroom. I also learnt that a teacher shouldn’t rely solely on textbooks to teach. Being creative, using authentic material and adapting activities to fit the needs of the class is essential. When selecting a textbook for a class there are various factors to consider such as methodologies used, price, relevance, progression and equipment required. It is important to teach using the ESA method and adapting textbooks to meet requirements.
