As the units wrap us, lesson 19 provided useful instruction on teaching various levels and demographics of English language learners. Specifics for beginners, young learners, business English students, as well as mono and multilingual classrooms were given in this unit. I appreciate how this lesson took the time to address various obstacles and challenges that each specific category of students may face in their language learning as well as appropriate activities to be implemented in each one. A new concept to me was the way that the teacher should avoid using the “mother tongue” of students while in the classroom. I foresee this being a challenge for me as I am competent in Chinese but will be teaching an ESL class in China. I hope to internalize this advice as I wish to see my students thrive and learn to the best of their ability!
