I enjoyed this unit and the ideas it brought for delivering English lessons. A coursebook is important for having to refer to and use in conjunction with teaching new material; however authentic and created materials are essential for an engaging environment. Authentic materials consist of anything that one could find in living their everyday life such as newspapers, programs, songs and lots more. Authentic materials are exciting for the learner and therefore builds confidence in the language. Created materials are worksheets that I will make in my free time for my class, such as wordsearches and gap filled exercises. Having a course book is good to refer to during your lesson planning, but should not be used for the entire lesson. There are lots of things to consider when deciding which course book is a best fit such as price, difficulty, design and more. I enjoyed this unit altogether.
