This unit gave me a deeper understanding of how important productive skills are. Speaking and writing are both vital parts when teaching learners a new language. They are both used to communicate and therefore require many different components. Speaking requires accuracy and fluency in order to reproduce the language properly. I enjoyed learning about the many different ways to practice speaking in the classroom with controlled and guided activities, and also allowing creative communication in the classroom. Writing is said to be often neglected during class time, however should not be and is crucial to developing a new language. Writing has many important aspects such as grammar, vocabulary, spelling, handwriting, layout and punctuation. This unit even gave me many ideas for all types of games to play in the classroom to practice productive skills!
