Vocabulary, grammar and functions all play key roles in helping one understand a new language. This lesson taught me effective ways in teaching young learners a new language through the ESA boomerang, straight arrow and patchwork methods. It also helped me know how to engage the students through the use of pictures, discussion, scenario building, and more. I now have many ideas when it comes to study time, such as word searches and matching exercises. When it comes to the activate stage, I now have plenty of activities to use during class. I feel very confident in introducing vocabulary, grammar and functions when teaching english as a second language.
