Present tense is something that is used constantly, but something native speakers do naturally rather than with any kind of thought process. This section touched on a variety of ways to use the tense, and it did not stop at just ensuring that the learner knew the affirmative way to use them, but also highlighted the negative and question forms for maximum understanding. Asking questions in the reading about the tenses helped me to grasp the need to know them, and more so, the need to know them for teaching purposes. It was surprising to see just how many different tenses we use when speaking, and to think beyond ourselves and look at the challenges a learner of the language must face when they encounter these things.
