In this unit we learned about teaching and learning productive skills. Productive skills are writing and speaking. We learned different techniques on teaching students to speak in English, some reasons they might be hesitant, and how to encourage them to get over their reluctances. We also learned that writing differs from speaking a lot because of factors like spelling and punctuation. Though both productive skills are used for communication, how you teach them is very different. We were introduced to different games and activities to facilitate the learning of these skills and how to make a classroom comfortable enough for these lessons to be effective.
