When teaching English as a foreign language, it is very likely that I will have the opportunity to teach special groups. Special groups can consist of beginners, individual students, children, multilingual classes, and even business English. With each special group, this unit gave many tips on how to effectively teach each group. For example, when teaching beginners I will need to be as visual as possible and homework is important. When I am teaching individual students, it is important to have them complete a needs analysis form at the initial meeting. When teaching children, I will need to speak slowly, clearly and with lots of repetition. When teaching business English, it is not my main goal to test the students English level. Overall, this unit was informative in teaching all different types of special groups.
