I was surprised by some of the methodologies introduced in this unit.The use of colored rods in 'The Silent Way' seemed particularly odd, and the fact that the students had limited opportunities to hear the teacher model the language seemed an obstacle to learning, in my opinion. However, even if you use more conventional teaching methodology, the teacher is still faced with the dillema of judging of how much correction should be given to students, and when to students' ability to communicate precedence over accuracy.
